Pantone Gives Us a ‘Very Peri’ Start to 2022

In keeping with the pandemic inspired theme of moving forward with new ways to do things, PANTONE has for the first time ever created a new shade for its annual Colour of the Year Program. Very Peri (17-3938) has been described as ‘carefree, confident and curious’. This new fusion of periwinkle blue with violet-red undertones creates a distinctly energized and hopeful feeling amidst the dreary and challenging winter season.

What Inspired ‘Very Peri’?

“The Pantone Colour of the Year reflects what is taking place in our global culture, expressing what people are looking for that colour can hope to answer,” says Laurie Pressman, Vice President of the Pantone Colour Institute. “Creating a new colour for the first time in the history of our Pantone Colour of the Year educational colour program reflects the global innovation and transformation taking place.”

Leatrice Eiseman, Executive Director, Pantone Color Institute adds, “As we move into a world of unprecedented change, the selection of PANTONE 17-3938 Very Peri brings a novel perspective and vision of the trusted and beloved blue color family.”

Adding Very Peri to Your Home

At StateView Homes, our Décor Team is excited to help our homeowners put together inspired interiors that would work well with this new colour.

“There are many ways to incorporate Very Peri into your home,” says Melissa Taurasi, Décor Manager at StateView Homes. “The nice thing is that it works perfectly as a bold splash of colour or as a fresh new accent colour — just in time for Spring! It creates a bright and cheerful pop, ridding your home of those bland winter vibes.”

Very Peri instantly freshens up a room with a punch of colour.

She continues, “Consider using Very Peri within the rooms of your home which have excitement and creativity happening! This modern and vibrant colour will spark joy if applied to a piece of furniture or upholstered accent chair, in an office or play space. I love this colour against neutral pieces of furniture so it should incorporate easily to what you already have.”

Nadia Rossini, Décor Specialist at StateView Homes adds, “You could also select Very Peri for home décor items and textiles, such as throw pillows or a bohemian patterned rug”.

Mix and match Very Peri for even bolder combinations.

To really make the colour pop, use neutral colours and tones in the surrounding area, such as white, grey or beige. Or, pair it with some other PANTONE colours that pull from the red-violet infused blue such as this lovely pink hue, Pirouette (PANTONE 14-3205) or Navy Peony (PANTONE 19-4029).
